16-02-2025 07:59 AM

Ammon News - A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, with cold and partly cloudy weather prevailing across most regions.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, showers will affect eastern areas, particularly the far northeastern desert in the morning, where heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail could lead to flash floods.

Northern and central parts of the country may experience light and intermittent rain. Winds will be moderate southeasterly, shifting to westerly in the afternoon and strengthening at times, particularly in the south.

Unstable weather conditions are forecast to intensify late at night, impacting eastern Jordan as well as parts of the central and northern regions. Increased cloud cover at varying altitudes is expected, bringing scattered showers that may become heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, raising the risk of flash floods, particularly in the east. Winds will remain light and southeasterly.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding potential flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas of the northeastern desert during the morning hours, as well as hailstorms in the same region. Additionally, reduced visibility is expected due to dust in the southern and eastern parts of the country, while fog is likely to affect high-altitude areas late at night.

On Monday, a slight increase in temperatures is anticipated, with relatively cold conditions prevailing in most areas and warmer weather in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low-altitude clouds will appear, with a possibility of light rain in northern Jordan. Winds will be light and southeasterly.

Temperatures are expected to rise further on Tuesday, exceeding seasonal averages by 2–3 C. The weather will remain relatively cold in most regions but warm in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with light southeasterly winds.

By Wednesday, similar weather conditions will persist, with relatively cold temperatures in most areas and warmer conditions in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High-altitude clouds will appear, and winds will shift from light southeasterly in the morning to moderate northwesterly in the afternoon.

Expected temperatures today range between 14 C and 4 C in East Amman, 12 C and 2 C in West Amman, 11 C and 3 C in the Northern Highlands, and 13 C and 2 C in the Sharah Highlands.
