Cold, partly cloudy conditions on Thursday, with limited rainfall

Ammon News - Temperatures across the country are expected to remain below seasonal averages on Thursday, with cold and partly cloudy conditions prevailing in most regions, according to a report by the Jordan Meteorological Department.

Light and scattered rain showers are possible in the north and parts of the central region during the morning hours.

Westerly winds will be active, with strong gusts exceeding 50 km/h at times, raising dust in the southern and eastern parts of the country. The department has warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to morning fog, particularly over high-altitude areas, as well as the impact of strong winds and blowing dust.

On Friday, cold weather will continue across most areas, with relatively cooler conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High-altitude clouds are expected, while moderate easterly winds will prevail.

A slight increase in temperatures is forecast for Saturday, bringing conditions closer to seasonal averages. The weather will remain cold in most regions and slightly warmer in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Some medium and high-altitude clouds will be visible, with moderate southeasterly winds that may become active at times.

By Sunday, unstable weather conditions are expected as temperatures drop slightly. The day will be marked by cold and partly to mostly cloudy skies, with scattered rain showers anticipated in the north and east during the morning hours.

In the far northeastern desert, rainfall may be heavy for a short period, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail. Winds will shift to moderate westerlies, occasionally becoming active.

Maximum and minimum temperatures today are expected to range between 11 C and 4 C in East Amman, 9 C and 2 C in West Amman, 7 C and 2 C in the northern highlands, 8 C and 0 C in the Sharah highlands, 14 C and 2 C in the Badia, and 12 C and 3 C in the plains. In the Jordan Valley, temperatures will reach 16 C and 7 C in the north, 21 C and 10 C in the south, while the Dead Sea will see 19 C and 9 C, and the Gulf of Aqaba 20 C and 10 C. Petra
