Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez decided to call the Senate to convene next Tuesday to discuss and approve the 2025 draft general budget law.
The Senate Finance and Economic Committee approved the 2025 draft general budget law in a meeting held last Thursday, headed by Rajai Al-Muasher as received from the Lower House.
The Lower House on December 9, 2024, referred the 2025 draft general budget law to its parliamentary finance committee, which approved the draft budget after discussing it with ministries, units and government institutions.
The draft law estimated total public expenditures at JD12,511 billion, including current expenditures of approximately JD11,042 billion dinars, and capital expenditures of approximately JD1,469 billion, an increase of 16.5% over their re-estimated level for the year 2024; to cover financing major projects, building new hospitals and schools, and maintaining existing hospitals and schools.
The draft law also estimated public revenues at approximately JD10,233 billion, of which JD9.498 billion are local revenues and JD734 million are foreign grants. Thus, the budget project has set realistic estimates of revenues, which contributes to better management of the development process.
