10-03-2010 06:06 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Seven members of a family died of suffocation Saturday in Ras Al Ein district in downtown Amman, Civil Defense Department (CDD) spokesman Colonel Fareed Shara' said.

The victims included the parents and their five children, aged between one and 10 years old.

Shara' noted that CDD forces dealt with the accident and evacuated 3 of the bodies to Al Bashir state-run hospital, and 4 bodies to the Islamic Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the family had died as a result of inhaling gas fumes leaking from a residential water heater which led to their suffocation.
