Ammon News - AMMAN - The Senate condemned a decision by the Israeli government to classify the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron as well as Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque as Israeli heritage sites.
A statement issued by the Senate's Permanent Office voiced the senate’s rejection of the Israeli step and said the measure was part of an Israeli scheme that targets other Islamic and Christian holy sites, top of which is Al Aqsa Mosque.
"The Israeli decision is an affront to Muslims’ feelings and a flagrant violation of all international legitimacy resolutions and all religious values and principles," the statement added.
It called for an Arab position to support relentless efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to defend the Arab and Islamic identity of the holy city.
The Senate also called for making the issue a top priority for the Arab summit that will be held in Libya next month to confront the Israeli acts.
It also valued steadfastness of the Palestinians in the occupied lands and their defence of lands, rights and holy sites. (Petra)
