The decision axes the fines levied on open customs declarations (under the consumption status in the ASEZA) and deems all uncleared goods, as " restricted and not prohibited" and subject to successful checks by the specialized technical authorities. In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ASEZA's Chief Commissioner, Nayef Bakhit, said the Cabinet's decision was made to provide facilitations to the zone's investors and traders as part of a series of government steps during the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, he added that the decision seeks to stimulate the national economy movement and provide all goods and basic needs to citizens.
