Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius on Monday agreed to hold a round of political consultations via video conferencing to boost bilateral cooperation.

In a discussion over the telephone, the ministers highlighted bilateral cooperation and solidarity in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications.

Safadi and Linkevicius stressed the two countries' commitment to enhancing cooperation in the energy, tourism, investment, information technology, and education fields, and discussed regional developments and efforts exerted to resolve regional crises and establish security and stability.

Speaking on an Israeli plan to annex Palestinian lands, Safadi underscored the importance of launching a concerted international effort to deter Israel from implementing its plans. He also underlined the importance of re-launching serious negotiations to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, as the only way to resolve the conflict and achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

He stressed that preventing the Israeli plan protects peace and international law, noting that the annexation is a clear violation of international law that will undermine the two-state solution and thus all chances for peace.

The minister also commended Lithuania's adherence to international law and supporting the two-state solution as a way to resolve the conflict.
