Safadi : No regional peace, security without ending Israeli occupation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, on Saturday, said ending the Israeli occupation and meeting Palestinians' legitimate rights are the only way to achieve regional peace and security.

Speaking at the IISS Manama Dialogue's first plenary session entitled: "Regional Competition and Cooperation", Safadi said: "security and peace in the region will not be achieved without the end of the occupation and the fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

"Jordan will continue to work with brothers and partners in the international community to achieve a comprehensive peace, according to the only two-state solution as the only solution," Safadi added.

At the session, saw the participation of Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and French Defense Minister Florence Parly, the foreign minister noted that Jordanian-Israeli relations are at their lowest levels, as His Majesty King Abdullah said.

He pointed out that the Kingdom is committed to the comprehensive peace according to the Arab peace initiative, which he said remains the most holistci approach to achieving lasting peace.

He explained that regional crises are intertwined and based on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which requires collective efforts to address them.

In his speech, the foreign minister tackled various issues, including war on terrorism, and crises in both Iraq and Syria.
