King talks to AlJazeera news correspondant attacked by police in Amman

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS— His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday talked to Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Amman, Yasser Abu Hilaleh over the phone, after the latter was hit by Jordanian police.

While covering one the demonstrations calling for the expulsion of Israel’s Ambassador to Jordan, Abu Hilaleh was hit by police who also confiscated his mobile phone.

King's Adviser Ayman Safadi visited Abu Hilaleh in hospital. Safadi said that a fact-finding committee was formed to investigate the issue.

He also stressed the denunciation of His Majesty of such behaviour, as well as his regret that such an incident could occur.

Government officials lead by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Minister of Interior Affairs Eid Fayez and the Minister of State for Information Affairs Nasser Joudeh also visited Abu Hilaleh.

Earlier in the morning, an Al Jazeera cameraman was also hospitalized after being hit by police.
