Number of Syrian refugees in Jerash rises to 60,000

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The number of Syrian refugees who lived in Jerash governorate north of Jordan, since the start of the crisis 2011 has risen to reach more than 60,000 individuals, according to Jerash Mayor, Ali Gougazeh said on Thursday.

He said that a total of 3270 refugees are currently present in Souf village West of Jerash.

According to official numbers, more than 587,461,000 of Syrian refugees fled to Jordan since 2014, total of 136,024 refugees are currently present in the camps at Zaatari, Mreijib Al Fhoud and in King Abdullah Park, the Cyber City and Manshiyat Al Elayan.

Gougaazeh indicated that the continued flow of Syrian refugees is placing an increasing pressure on the Kingdom's various sectors, and urged donor countries to shoulder their responsibilities towards the refugees to alleviate their suffering.
