IAF calls on youth to "demand students rights"

14-02-2011 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Central Committee for Youth of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) called on youth and students in various public and private universities to hold demonstrations to celebrate the success of the Tunisian and Egyptian revolutions.

It commended the role of youth in toppling the Egyptian and Tunisian regimes, and stressed that their success will change conditions in the region and open wide doors for needed reform and progress of Arab nations towards democracy and justice.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the committee called on youth to demand their students rights, including a cease on security interference and release of public freedoms.

It urged students to demand having a general Student Union in Jordan, and allow for political party activism inside university campuses, which has been marginalized in the previous years.
