PM affirms gov't support to security crackdown to enforce law

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, affirmed the government's support for the security measures and crackdown campaigns carried out by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and security apparatuses to enforce the rule of law in implementation of the King's directives contained in the Royal Letter of Designation, through procedures and legislation that will be taken soon.
The PM made the remarks during his visit on Sunday to the PSD, lauding the efforts made by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army and the security departments that have always ensured the security and safety of the homeland and citizens in various circumstances and times amid Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
Khasawneh said the security clampdown carried out by the PSD to arrest lawbreakers comes within the framework of its "unrelenting" and continuous efforts to protect the citizens' security, which have sent messages of reassurance and drew "wide" comfort among public opinion.
To boost rule of law nationwide, the premier said the Cabinet has decided in its session held on Sunday to "quickly" start reviewing relevant legislation to tackle any loopholes that are exploited by racketeers and lawbreakers and end such criminal phenomena that must be addressed "firmly."
During the visit to the PSD, its Director Major Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, briefed the premier on the "most important" field plans and measures taken to arrest racketeers, lawbreakers and suspects involved in crimes related to terrorizing citizens, stressing the continuity of the security clampdown as an "ongoing duty and responsibility that does not end without ensuring the society's security and safety."
Hawatmeh expressed his pride in the government's support for the efforts made by the PSD agents, and its "firm" keenness to overcome the obstacles facing their work, foremost is to achieve deterrence among repeat offenders, and impose the most severe penalties against the recidivists.
The PSD chief also indicated the "absolute" confidence in the just and impartial Jordanian judicial system, and the high level of cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Interior, administrative governors, General Intelligence Department, and the Armed Forces - the Arab Army.
Hawatmeh also said the PSD personnel will defend the homeland's security, and according to the King's directives.
