Sixteen deaths take COVID-19 fatalities in Jordan to 207

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - At least 1,147 COVID-19 infections were recorded in Jordan on Sunday, bringing the caseload to some 26,073, according to a statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Amman recorded 647 cases, the majority of newly reported cases, followed by Karak that recorded 163; 116 cases were recorded in Zarqa, 62 in Balqa, 52 in Jerash, 30 in Madaba, 24 in Maan,18 in Ajloun, 18 in Irbid, 7 in Aqaba and 5 in Mafraq. In addition, five non-domestic cases were recorded.

Sixteen people succumbed to the respiratory disease within the last 24 hours as the death toll inches to 207, the statement read.

Some 118 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals today. And in their continued effort to stem the spread of the novel virus, the authorities conducted close to 21,950 COVID-19 tests, bringing the total to more than 1,439,200.

Amid rising number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the "Aman" and "Sihtak" apps.
