15 COVID-19 deaths, 1,227 local infections on Saturday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Health said Saturday that its recorded 15 fatalities from the novel coronavirus in the Kingdom, bringing the death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic to 181.

According to the media brief issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health, 1,235 COVID-19 cases were recorded during the last 24 hours, including 1,227 local infections, bringing the caseload to 23,998.

The new cases were as follows: 742 in the capital Amman, 200 in Zarqa, 97 in Karak, 59 in Irbid, including 17 in Ramtha district, 35 in Ma'an, including 15 in Petra, 31 in Balqa, 24 in Jerash, 13 in Mafraq, 9 in Madaba, 8 in Ajloun, 7 in Aqaba, and 2 in Tafila, in addition to 8 cases from abroad.

It said that 139 people infected with the virus have recovered, including 18 at the Prince Hamza Hospital, 106 at the special isolation area in the Dead Sea, 10 at the Queen Alia Hospital, and 5 at private hospitals.

It said that 12,280 swabs were taken, bringing the total number of tests since the start of the pandemic to 1,399,752.

According to the media brief, the blanket curfew that began Thursday midnight ends at 12:00 midnight tonight, and the partial curfew begins at 1:00 am, during which only authorized persons can go out, and it continues until 6:00 am.

The Ministry called on the public, in light of the surge in local infections, to adhere to the defense orders, follow safety and prevention standards, wear masks, and not hold gatherings of more than 20 people, and also use the Aman and Sehtak apps.
