Ghor al-Safi, Ghor Al-Mazraeh areas under lockdown as of next Sunday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Director of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Cell, Brigadier Gen. Mazen Faraya, at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM),said the government has decided to impose a 2-week comprehensive curfew in the Ghor al-Safi and Ghor al-Mazraa regions in Karak governorate, as of 6:00am next next Sunday, September 20.

Faraya said the lockdown decision was triggered by the "grave" epidemiological situation in the two Karak regions.

Speaking during a joint press conference held on Thursday at the Prime Ministry, he said the two region's Security Committee, chaired by the governor, was authorized to open the facilities necessary to sustain citizen lifeflow, and set up a mechanism to allow the public foot mobility to meet their basic needs at varying times, provided that minimum mingling is guaranteed.

The governors were also mandated to take the necessary decisions to allow food supply chains entry to the two regions under lockdown and issue the necessary permits to farmers when necessary, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, according to Faraya.

As per the region-specifi governor mandate, worker mobility will also be facilitated to sustain operations of the Arab Potash Company (APC),he added, noting the humanitarian and emergency cases will also be handled.
The Covid-19 Crisis Cell, he said, closely monitors developments of the epidemiological situation in all the Kingdom's governorates and regions.

In cooperation with government teams and competent agencies, the Crisis Cell is also studying the relevant field measures to be taken to protect citizens and safeguard their safety as a direct responsibility, according to Fariah.
