Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Sa'ad Jaber, announced that 279 new Covid-19 cases, including 270 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom.
Speaking during a joint press briefing held on Thursday at the Prime Ministry, Jaber also said 9 imported cases were also registered, meanwhile 66 patients have recovered.
Among the new domestic cases, Jaber said 145 were recorded in the capital Amman, 4 in Karak, 94 in Balqa, 5 in Irbid, 18 in Zarqa, 1 in Madaba, 1 in Jerash, 1 in Tafila, and 1 in Maan.
Moreover, the investigation teams have today administered around 15,000 tests, he said, adding; "They have doubled their efforts in testing contacts."
Discussing a related medical issue, he said vaccines are either given to pupils upon entering schools up to the 1oth grade, as part of the national immunization program, which helps eliminate many diseases.
Or, the seasonal flu vaccine, which is given voluntarily, is purchased by the government, he said, adding around 60,000 doses are usually provided.
In 2020, the government has provided 250 thousand doses, according to Jaber.
As for the the Covid-19 medicine, the minister said no vaccine has not been produced yet , and Jordanians will not be vaccinated until it is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
