Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Sa'ad Jaber, announced 80 new Covid-19 cases, including 79 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the total caseload to 2739.
The local cases comprised 38 infections in Amman, some are under investigation, said Jaber during a joint press conference at the Prime Ministry.
Among the domestic cases were also 19 infections in Balqa, 3 in Mafraq, 7 in Irbid, 3 in Zarqa, and 9 in Karak, added Jaber.
Meanwhile, one imported case was registered, involving a truck driver at Omari Border Crossing, he noted.
Since August 7, local injuries have reached 1,202, while 62 recoveries were recorded, 680 patients are still under treatment, added Jaber.
Moreover, a virus-related death was registered to a woman in her thirties, according to the minister.
The investigation teams conducted 15,784 tests today, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 941018, the minister pointed out.
The minister attributed the fact that numbers of locally transmitted infections haven't doubled to "effectiveness" of government measures, lauding the "tremendous" efforts made by medical teams and laboratories.
The minister said the procedures implemented are "strict,", which led to controlling and stabilizing cases numbers, indicating that Jordan will not implement the so-called "herd immunity" policy.
Jaber called on citizens to stay away from gatherings, and celebrations that violate anti-Covid instructions, and abide by physical distancing and wearing face masks.
