Stifling heat to continue throughout weekend

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Temperatures are set to rise above 37C in most parts of the Kingdom and even 40C in Amman, the Dead Sea and Aqaba today, with a chance of light and shattered rain in some regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

The stifling heat is expected to continue through weekend despite a slight in mercury levels, while some clouds at medium and high altitudes are forecast, said the JMD report.

In Amman and other highlands, north and south, daytime mercury levels will range between 40 and 37 degrees. In the late afternoon and evening hours, cooler weather is forecast as temperatures slide to around 24 and even 22 in some southern and northern highlands, the meteorologists noted.

The Jordan Valley and the Red Sea port of Aqaba will see a scorching 41C, 42C respectively, sliding to 29C during night time.
