Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Queen Alia International Airport is resuming regular flights as of Tuesday, September 8, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Wednesday.

Adaileh, who is also the government spokesperson, said that health and preventive measures will be taken as the airport is poised to reopen next week.

Travellers coming from "Green" countries will be required to spend a period of 14 days in the country of which they are coming from, he said, adding that they will also need to run a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test 72 hours prior to their flight leaving for Jordan. They will also undertake a second test at their own expense upon arrival to the airport and wait until it returns negative.

In case the test returns negative, they will not be subject to institutional quarantine, however they will be required to self-quarantine for a week.

As for travellers who wish to come to the Kingdom from "Yellow" countries, Adaileh explained, they will have to prove they undertook a PCR test that returns negative for COVID-19 72 hours prior to their flight inbound to Jordan. Having completed that, they will be subject to institutional quarantine for a week; a third test will be conducted to the quarantined on the fifth or sixth day, adding that if the test results return negative, the individual will be required to self-quarantine for a week.

Those coming from "Red" countries will be subject to the same procedures as travellers coming from "Yellow" countries will with a single distinction that arrivals from the former group will be asked to wear a wristband during their self-quarantine.

He highlighted that those who fail to provide a PCR test 72 hours prior to their flight inbound to the Kingdom will be subject to 2-week institutional quarantine. He said that these measures will be imposed on non-Jordanians who wish to come into the country and will be applied at all border crossings.

As for people who wish to leave the country, he said that they are free to leave whenever they wish provided there are flights available and should countries of destination approve to allow them entry.

On the government's decisions and measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, a virus that causes the respiratory disease of COVID-19, Adaileh said that both Amman and Zarqa are witnessing a blanket curfew Friday. The sirens will wail at 11 pm, signaling the start of the 24-hour curfew.

He said that even those who have electronic permits will not be excluded from the curfew decision, with the exception of those whose nature of their work necessitates otherwise.
