Minister: Airports to remain open to Jordanian arrivals

AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Tuesday that Jordanian airports will remain open to receive Jordanian citizens and for the departure of Jordanians and non-Jordanians.

He also said in remarks to Petra that flights for the return of Jordanians from various destinations abroad will be increased, and that the Kingdom's airports will continue to receive cargo planes as well as departing flights for both Jordanians and non-Jordanians.

Commenting on the return of Jordanian nationals from "green" countries and destinations, he said that according to a decision by the Health Minister, the returnees will be subjected to a one-week quarantine period after taking a PCR test to confirm that they are not infected with COVID-19 upon arrival in the Kingdom.

Adaileh stressed that the protection of Jordanians from the pandemic will remain the first and decisive criteria in air traffic plans and deciding the dates of flights, adding that Jordan's achievement in controlling the pandemic locally and maintaining a low number of infections will not be undermined, particularly as the start of the new academic year draws closer, which requires greater care to ensure an environment free of the virus.

Adaileh had stated in previous statements that the decision to postpone regular flights to and from green countries and destinations was based on a recommendation by the National Epidemiological Committee due to an unstable global epidemiological situation and a rapid rise in the number of infections.
