Justice minister : Public Prosecution's rulings enforceable as a judicial entity

AMMONNEWS - Minister of Justice, Dr. Bassam Talhouni, said all rulings issued by the Public Prosecution, including suspension of the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate (JTS), closure of its headquarters and apprehension of its councils's members, can be challenged at the competent courts.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Prime Ministry on Sunday, he said Implementation of these rulings is not an "optional" on the side of the government, adding the statement issued by the Public Prosecution in the case of the suspended JTS indicates involvement of the syndicate's members in the alleged violations, in principle.

Accordingly, the government is not entitled to discuss the case until the relevant investigations are completed and appropriate verdicts are issued, the minister pointed out.

The Public Prosecution's gag order in the JTS's case is based on the rule of law, and the investigation's privacy, with the aim of ensuring a swift litigation process, according to the minister.

Rulings made by the Public Prosecution, as part of the judiciary, are "enforceable," against all institutions, unions, and individuals and must be respected and complied with, Talhouni said.
