7 imported Covid-19 cases recorded in Jordan on Wednesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Health announced 7 new non-locally transmitted cases were recorded in Jordan on Wednesday, bringing the total caseload to 1120.


The Ministry said the Covid-19 caseload has dropped after a request made by the World Health Organization (WHO) to exclude infections of non-Jordanian truck drivers, who have tested positive at the Kingdom's borders and returned homeland, according to the health protocol in place.


Of the new infections, 6 cases involve people who are currently residing at the quarantine hotels (3 from Syria, 2 from Saudi Arabia, and 1 from Iraq), and 1 infection to a Jordanian truck driver arriving across the Al-Omari Border Crossing, according to the joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.


Meanwhile, 4 patients have left Prince Hamzah Hospital, the statement said, adding 7225 additional Covid-19 tests were administered, bringing the total number conducted so far to 53, 4319.


According to the government, the working hours for all economic activities are extended until 12 midnight, and the citizen mobility relaxed to 1 a.m.


The Ministry warned of any practices that flout public safety and prevention measures, especially to gatherings exceeding 20 people, amid the increasing number of Covid-19 cases globally.


In this regard, the Ministry also renewed its call to the public to adhere to wearing masks, physical distancing, observing all related precautions, and using the "Aman" and "Your Health" apps, aimed to curb the spread of the virus.
