Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Marka's Rabwah area, the Al-Marqab neighborhood in particular, on Sunday afternoon, was completely isolated from surrounding areas after cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were confirmed, to enable epidemiological investigation teams to identify those who were in contact with infected cases.

Director of operations at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management’s crisis cell, Brig. Gen. Mazen Faraiah, said chemical support teams have sterilized and disinfected contaminated areas and public facilities in that neighborhood.

In a press briefing at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, Faraiah said today, the 291 people quarantined in the Regency Palace Hotel were evacuated, after the necessary medical tests were performed, as one person was confirmed to have been infected and transferred to Prince Hamzah Public Hospital.

Royal Engineering Corps and Civil Defence Directorate (CDD) chemical support teams continue to fully implement tasks and duties assigned to them, as the sterilizing process was completed at the Intercontinental Hotel, at a rate of 250 rooms and the MENA Tyche Hotel at a rate of 120 rooms, as well as 12 houses in Irbid Governorate, and the Queen Alia Military Hospital, Faraiah added.

Brig. Gen. Faraiah noted that the CDD cadres dealt with 7,641 cases during the past 24 hours, while 203 cases were received by mobile medical clinics.

He said: "Some websites and social media outlets are still publishing false information about selling or forging curfew-exemption permits."

He added: "We would like to confirm here with full transparency, a clear conscience and out of respect for Jordanian citizens that all those involved in this matter have been subjected to investigations, and legal actions has been taken against them."

Faraiah called on everyone to stop circulating any information in this regard "and let the Jordanian government, armed forces and security bodies focus their efforts on protecting our dear country and people."
