PM meets officials, economists in Davos

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, Wednesday, met with President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Bandar Hajjar, and discussed with him projects that Jordan intends to implement in many vital sectors and the possibility of the bank’s contribution to support its implementation.

Hajjar stressed the bank’s keenness to maintain its cooperation with Jordan, and that it is constantly mulling over the feasibility of projects that benefit everyone.

He pointed out that the IsDB established a fund to support innovation projects, highlighting its aspiration for Jordanian youth to participate.

Talks during the meeting figured high on the means by which the bank can support financing emerging projects that serve the youth.

The Prime Minister also met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Suma Chakrabarti, who confirmed EBRD aspiration to bolster cooperation with Jordan and contribute to supporting and financing more investments in the Kingdom.

Chakrabarti, who confirmed his aspiration to visit Jordan during the coming period, indicated that the bank is in the process of developing its plans and programs for the next five years.

Razzaz praised EBRD's distinguished effort to support many vital sectors in Jordan, chief of which is infrastructure, noting the government's plans and programs to implement many major projects in partnership with the private sector.

He also met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, and discussed with him aspects of cooperation between Jordan and the concerned United Nations organizations to meet the increasing needs of Syrian refugees.

The Prime Minister stressed that Jordan grapples with the burden of hosting refugees in light of limited international community's support, highlighting the importance of supporting Jordan to continue providing basic services to refugees.

Grandi commended the efforts exerted by Jordan in this regard, stressing the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the two sides.

Razzaz also met with CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, who provided an explanation of the company's work and the successes it achieved in many countries, and commended the government's support, highlighting the company's aspiration to provide better services.

The Prime Minister stressed that the government attaches great importance to the public transport sector, adding that it is working to develop an integrated transport system in the Kingdom in a comprehensive and integrated manner, urging the company to maintain its communication with the Ministry of Transport on any development projects.
