Lower house speaker stresses Jordan's support to Iraq, its people

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, affirmed Jordan’s supportive stance to Iraq and its people, coordination of the parliamentary effort, and activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries in issues common concern.

In a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Halbousi, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi and Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Haider Al Athari, Tarawneh underlined Jordan's firm stance led by His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting Iraq to face all challenges and ensure the safety and integrity of its land and people, as well as respecting Iraqi sovereignty, and not to use Iraqi lands as an arena for regional and international conflicts.

For his part, Halbousi lauded Jordan's firm position, affirmed by His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting Iraq, stressing his country's keenness to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various levels in accordance with mutual interests.

He underscored the importance of joint coordination to address challenges of terrorism, preserving the sovereignty, security, safety, and territorial integrity of Iraq and its people, supporting the Iraqi government in ending the issue of displacement, ensuring the return of the displaced, and restoring stability.
