Drug smuggling attempt foiled at Syria border

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND at Jaber border crossing thwarted the smuggling of 130,000 narcotic pills, and arrested two people involved in the incident.

In a statement put out on Sunday, media spokesperson for the Public Security Department (PSD) said the AND agents were tipped off on a person trying to smuggle a large amount of narcotic pills through the Jaber border crossing in a vehicle coming from the Syrian territory.

When the vehicle arrived the border crossing, he added it was seized and 130,000 narcotic pills were found hidden in a secret compartment, noting its driver was arrested.

Through investigations, the shipment recipient was also identified and apprehended in Al-Mafraq Governorate, he noted, adding the case was referred to the Prosecutor of the State Security Court (SSC).
