AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday oversaw the signing of a number of agreements between the Ministry of Labor and some 30 official institutions and private companies to provide job opportunities for 12,500 young men and women in the private sector.

The agreements were signed with the Jordan Armed Forces/ Arab Army and private companies and institutions to employ 6,000 Jordanians within the National Service Program and other national recruitment platforms.

The prime minister stressed that employment and creating an appropriate climate to help young men and women to enter the labor market are the government's foremost priority as instructed by the His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Razzaz announced that the first draft law to be sent by the government to the parliament's regular session, which will start next week, will be an amended Labor Law, which seeks to regulate the labor market and organize foreign workers and open up more space for Jordanian youth.

The prime minister pointed out that the government launched a stimulus package last week as part of a series of incentives for the private sector to invest and employ Jordanians.

He said that expatriate workers in Jordan are welcome if their situation is corrected and if they do not work in sectors they are not permitted to work in, adding that: "We are no longer taking a stand on the labor market and will intervene in favor of our Jordanian youth."
