Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi Monday discussed with United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths efforts to end the crisis in the country through a political solution that restores its security and stability.

Griffiths briefed Safadi on UN efforts to end the crisis, and the minister commended the role of the Amman-based UN mission for Yemen.

The foreign minister said that efforts should be intensified to end the crisis, whose humanitarian repercussions were exacerbated, through a political solution in line with the accredited terms of reference, stressing the need to implement the Stockholm agreement and the Al Hodeidah accord as key steps towards a political solution to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Safadi and Griffiths agreed on the need to resolve the dispute and end the escalation in Aden through dialogue, stressing Jordan's support of Saudi Arabia's call for dialogue to stop the escalation.

He called for swift and effective action to end tension in Aden and resolve the Yemeni crisis as a whole, warning that allowing the conflict to drag on would only lead to more suffering and destruction.

The minister said Jordan condemns targeting Saudi Arabia, stressing that the security of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates is part of Jordan's security, and reiterating that Amman backs "the brothers in all the steps they take to protect their security."

Griffiths thanked Jordan for hosting and supporting the UN mission for Yemen.
