AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, stressed the "strategic and brotherly" relations between Jordan and Iraq and the keenness to enhance joint cooperation in all fields to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

During his meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister, Yassin al-Yasiri, in the presence of Interior Minister, Salama Hammad, and Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safia al-Suhail, the premier said the two countries' governments are constantly working within the one-team framework to implement the directives of the two leaderships to establish a new phase of mutual cooperation and overcome any obstacles facing it.

Razzaz pointed to the "historic" visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Iraq last year and the visit of Iraqi President Barham Salih to Amman, which underscore the political will and sincere desire to open wider horizons for bilateral relations and integration between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade fields.

Razzaz said Jordan will maintain its unwavering support to the Iraqi people, adding the security of the two countries is "inseparable."

In this context, he highlighted the importance of the efforts exerted by the interior ministries and competent bodies in both countries to ensure overcoming any security challenges and facilitating movement of citizens, businesspeople, and truck drivers between the two countries.

He referred to the measures taken by Jordan through the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad to facilitate Iraqis' visa obtainment.

For his part, the Iraqi interior minister said his visit to Jordan, the first foreign trip since taking office, bears great indications on the openness of Iraq to Jordan and the keenness to develop bilateral relations.

The Iraqi government is deeply interested to strengthening relations with Jordan, which will have a significant positive impact on the security, political, economic and social situation in Iraq, al-Yasiri pointed out.

Al-Yasiri voiced the commitment of the Iraqi government to implement strategic projects between the two countries, including the oil pipeline project , which provides Iraq with new export outlets and meets part of Jordan's oil needs.
