Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Minister of Transport, Anmar Khasawneh, said Jordan is bound by the International Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Road (CVR) with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During a meeting with the Azeri Ambassador to Jordan, Rasim Rzayev, the minister said the protocol of the Jordanian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Land Transport was signed here recently, which includes a mechanism for the best CVR implementation, under which 50 international permits for the land transport of goods are exchanged annually.

In the field of maritime transport, Khasawneh announced a draft cooperation agreement in the field of commercial maritime transport between the two countries, as stated by the Azerbi envoy, where the two sides are seeking to sign a draft memorandum of understanding on the joint recognition of maritime certificates for operating navigators in both countries.

During the meeting, Khasawneh highlighted the possibility of cooperation in the fields of exchanging maritime expertise, joint training opportunities, and aquatic environment protection.

Discussed during the meetings of the joint committee, Khasawneh called on the Azerbaijani side to activate the Jordanian proposal to take advantage of the open skies policy at King Hussein Airport in Aqaba and to benefit from the low operational cost of a direct line between Azerbaijan and King Hussein Airport.

In the rail transport, the two sides discussed the national railway network project, where Khasawneh briefed the ambassador on the latest developments.

Discussing Azeri engagement, the minister called for mulling the possibility of investing to implement this rail project, and providing grants and specialized courses in the railway sector.

For his part, the Azeri envoy stressed the need to increase cooperation between the two friendly countries in all types of transport, especially in the rail sector, highlighting the importance of studying the possibility of providing specialized grants and training in the railway field to harness the Azeri expertise to the Jordanian staff in this area.
