Georgian ambassador stresses interest in Jordan's religious tourism

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Georgian Ambassador to Amman Zaza Kandelaki, stressed his country's interest in Jordan's religious tourism.

The ambassador said in a press statement at the Georgian Embassy in Amman that Jordan and Georgia are celebrating this year the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, highlighting the distinguished relationship between the two countries in various fields.

Kandelaki noted that tourism between the two countries is growing as the number of Jordanian tourists visiting Georgia is increasing, noting that he is exerting relentless efforts to restart direct flights between both countries.

He also stressed the need to enhance bilateral relations, pointing out the importance of Senate President Faisal Fayez's visit to Georgia and talks he held with the Georgian President and senior officials.

Georgia this year, and for the first time, granted a full scholarship to a Jordanian student in the most important universities in Georgia, the ambassador said, adding that the number of such scholarship will be increased in the future.

On economy, the ambassador said that the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries could be increased, particularly in the field of agriculture and meat.

He also called for activating the agreements signed between the two sides and holding a Jordanian- Georgian business and economic forum as a first step to enhance economic cooperation.

Kandelaki pointed out the joint cooperation between Jordan and Georgia in countering terrorism, noting that a number of meetings will be organized in near future to discuss this cooperation.

The Georgian ambassador congratulated the Jordanian leadership, government and people on the occasion of the Independence Day, which falls on May 25.
