Gov't support to universities to be increased by JD18 million

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Cabinet agreed during its meeting on Wednesday, which was chaired by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, to increase the direct government support of the universities by JD18 million as of next year to become JD90 million.

In order to enable universities to overcome the challenges and achieve the desired reform, the Cabinet formed, upon recommendations of the minister of higher education and scientific research, a committee chaired by the secretary general of the ministry higher education and scientific research to present a plan on means and ways of achieving financial and administrative reforms at universities.

The annual support allocated to the universities in 2019, include JD10 million for debt repayment, JD20 million to the student support fund, and JD42 million as direct support.

During the session, the cabinet also approved a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of religious affairs between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Republic of Tunisia within the framework of developing cooperation and consultation in the field of religious affairs.
