Senate chief meets Iraqi political party reps

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senate President Faisal Fayez has underscored the brotherly relations binding Jordan and Iraq and voiced keen interest to enhance them to realize mutual benefits.

Welcoming an Iraqi delegation representing the National Wisdom Movement (NWM) headed by Ammar al-Hakim, the Senate chief pointed out the importance of a recent visit by His Majesty King Abdullah to the neighboring country in further pushing forward economic ties and joint anti-terrorism endeavors.

He, moreover, noted Jordan's support of Iraq's efforts towards peace and stability, highlighting the role of national political parties in bringing closer the divergent views on both countries' various issues.

The meeting touched on challenges encountering the Arab region and means to firmly establishing the foundations of peace and stability.

"Fostering Jordanian-Iraqi relations constitutes the cornerstone of economic equilibrium at the level of the region as a whole", an NWM official told the meeting, which was attended by a number of heads of national parties.

The attendees highlighted Jordan stances calling to support Iraq and urged further coordination on various issues pertaining to regional causes and bilateral ties.
