SSC Attorney upholds indictment in tobacco case

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The State Security Court (SSC) Attorney General, Brig. Hazem Majali, Tuesday upheld the court's Prosecutor General Col. Fawaz Atoum's decision to indict 29 defendants and 15 companies in the illegal manufacturing and smuggling of tobacco, known as the tobacco case.

They are facing charges of carrying out acts that endanger public safety and security and acts that would change the country's economic entity or endanger the society’s basic conditions, bribery to carry out an illegal act, money laundering and customs evasion, abuse of power and evasion of the sales tax.

The Attorney General announced the referral of the case to the SSC so that proceedings can begin in an open trial.
