Iraqi President receives Prime Minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Iraqi President Barham Salih received in Baghdad on Saturday Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, who conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah.

During the meeting, Salih stressed Iraq's keenness to develop relations with Jordan, and the importance of strengthening ties and developing constructive cooperation between the two countries.

Razzaz said the Iraqi president's visit to Jordan last month made a great impact on the promotion of bilateral ties, pointing out that King Abdullah has directed to make this visit in order to open new horizons of cooperation, exchange and integration of economic political and security coordination.

He added that the today's talks have resulted in decisions according to a specific timetable for implementation and work to exploit opportunities to cooperate and find solutions to all standing issues.

In a statement after the meeting, the Prime Minister said talks dealt with common political, economic and security issues.

He added that "both countries have identified a number of opportunities that we will invest together in order to develop joint investment in important sectors such as transportation and trade through the Al Karama-Treibil border crossing, the oil pipeline, the electricity grid, the use of Aqaba port, cooperation between the Royal Jordanian and Iraqi Airways and many other topics.
