Obituary: Sheikh Sultan Al Adwan, Al Faisali Club chief, passes away

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Former minister and Al Faisali Club President Sheikh Sultan Al-Adwan died at dawn Saturday at an Amman hospital, at the age of 83.

Tributes for Adwan, a former minister of state and president of one of the Kingdom's leading sport clubs for over three decades, poured in from top officials and the youth and sport movemenet across the Kingdom.

They praised him as "a knight and pioneer of Jordanian sport", recalling his tireless efforts through his leadership of Al Faisali since 1988, and praying that Allah Almighty rest his soul in peace.

His Royal highness Prince Ali Ibn Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, tweeted "Al Adwan was a loss for Jordanian football", hailed him as "a friend, adviser and supporter" and extended his warm condolences, in his name and on behalf of the Jordanian footballing family, to Al Adwan tribe.

Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and Culture and Youth Minister Mohammed Abu Rumman paid tribute to Al Adwan for the "noble services" he offered to the country in all the positions he served, particularly in the youth and sport fields, expressing their condolences to the family of the deceased and the Jordanian sporting movement.
