Depression to affect Kingdom Wednesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A slight in mercury levels is expected on Wednesday, creating relatively cold and partly cloudy conditions with scattered showers in the northern parts of the Kingdom and southwesterly moderate winds, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

In the evening, a depression centered over Cyprus is forecast to start affecting the Kingdom, bringing cloudy skies with rainfall in the northern regions gradually extending to the central and southern areas of the country. Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and hail is also expected at night in the northern and central areas, causing floods in valleys and lowlands.

Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk at times, blowing dust in the southern and eastern cities, the JMD said.

A further in mercury levels is expected on Thursday. Therefore, it will be cold and cloudy with rain across the Kingdom that may turn heavy accompanied by thunder and hail, causing floods in valleys and low-lying regions, while winds will be northwesterly brisk blowing dust, the department added.

Mercury levels will rise few degrees on Friday, but it will remain cold and partly cloudy with a chance for scattered showers in the northern, central and southern regions, while winds will be northwesterly moderate, the JMD noted.

Temperatures for today in Amman and the southern governorates will reach 14 degrees Celsius, dropping to 8 and 4 degrees respectively, while in the Gulf of Aqaba mercury levels will register a high of 24 degrees dropping down to 14 degrees at night.
