Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Lower House of Parliament convened on Tuesday to deliberate over the case of the main suspect in the illegal cigarettes production and smuggling and owner of a tobacco factory, who was brought to justice yesterday after months on the run.

Up to 59 legislators spoke during the session, highly appreciating efforts by His Majesty King Abdullah in extraditing the high-profile fugitive, as well as the government's anti-corruption efforts.

They also spoke about the proposed general pardon draft law, demanding to write-off the debts of university students and the reappointment of Jordan's Ambassador to Syria.

The MPs, moreover, thanked Saudi Arabia's support in constructing the Gulf-bound 100 km long road linking the Zarqa Free Zone road with the Al-Omari Border Crossing.

The lawmakers also echoed the call to respond to Israeli occupation authorities' recurrent violations in the occupied West Bank and the impoverished Gaza Strip, urging enhanced Arab cooperation in this regard.
