AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz on Monday inaugurated a JD200-million road funded by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

"The 100km route, which was named after King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is the culmination of the strategic and long-standing Jordanian-Saudi partnership", the premier said at the inauguration, commending the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his continued support to Jordan.

This project, Razzaz stated, is an indicator that Jordan is moving forward towards a productive nation in terms of its infrastructure, noting that the Gulf-bound arterial street links Jordan with Saudi Arabia.

The new road is one of the public works ministry's key projects. It was executed by a consortium of Jordanian-Saudi contractors. It is considered crucial for regional trade and travel as it facilitates the flow of passengers.

The project included the rehabilitation of the road that links Zarqa Free Zone road with the Al-Omari Border Crossing by constructing it with a four-lane highway divided by a 20-meter median strip with four main junctions.

The ministry used cutting-edge technologies in constructing the road, paving and surfacing it with concrete asphalt intended to sustain vehicular traffic.

The Saudi ambassador in Amman, Prince Khaled Bin Faisal Bin Turki Al Saud, attended the inauguration as well as Public Works and Housing Minister, Falah Omoush, and Vice-Chairman of the SFD, Khalid Al-Khudairy.
