King holds talks with chairman of presidential council of Libya

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held talks with Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord in Libya Fayez Sarraj, who announced that Libya will start paying back overdue bills to Jordanian hospitals for treating Libyan patients.

During the talks, Sarraj expressed appreciation for King Abdullah’s efforts to support Libya.

His Majesty and Chairman Sarraj agreed on the importance of advancing cooperation between the two countries in investment, commercial exchange, medical tourism, higher education, and security coordination.

During the talks, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and senior officials from both countries, the two sides agreed to form joint committees to look into a number of issues concerning cooperation, including the overdue bills to Jordanian hospitals and Libya’s investment portfolio in Jordan.

The talks, which continued over lunch, also covered developments in Libya.

The King affirmed Jordan’s support for efforts to reach a political solution that brings security and stability to Libya, commending Sarraj’s efforts in this regard.

Sarraj noted the advanced relations between Jordan and Libya, stressing keenness to work with the Kingdom to broaden cooperation.

His Majesty and Chairman Sarraj stressed the two countries’ commitment to maintaining coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern.

Discussions also covered the importance of exchanging visits among the private sectors of the two countries to explore investment opportunities.

The two sides discussed a number of regional issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and the importance of achieving just and lasting peace for the Palestinians and the Israelis, based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Earlier on Sunday, Chairman Sarraj was accorded an official welcoming ceremony at Al Husseiniya Palace.
