FM, UN envoy discuss crisis in Yemen

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, on Tuesday met with UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths for a discussion on efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis in Yemen.

Safadi stressed the need to make every effort to resolve the crisis in Yemen through a political solution in accordance with the 2216 Security Council resolution, the Gulf Initiative and the outcome of the National Dialogue Conference.

He reiterated Jordan's support for the UN envoy's efforts to carry out his duties and responsibilities.

Safadi pointed out to the importance of efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to protect civilians and meet the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people.

The UN envoy briefed the foreign minister on his efforts with all parties to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Yemen and reach a political solution to the crisis.

Griffiths thanked the Kingdom for hosting and supporting the United Nations mission to Yemen.
