House chief urges Arab support of UNRWA

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, on Tuesday urged closer Arab and Islamic cooperation in support of Palestinians, including the cash-strapped UN refugee agency UNRWA.

Welcoming Egyptian ambassador, Tarek Adel, at the end of his tenure in Jordan, the House chief said he was coordinating with his Egyptian counterpart, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Ali Abdel Aal, on the AIPU agenda, where UNRWA is a top item.

Tarawneh also said that Jordan and Egypt have maintained strong relations and cooperation on various bilateral and regional issues, stressing that the two countries are working to further deepen ties in political, economic and social areas.

Adel described relations between the two countries as exemplary, adding that throughout his tenure in the Kingdom, he felt how willing Jordanian officials are to further advance cooperation with Egypt.
