PM, UNHCR chief discuss joint cooperation on Syrian refugees

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Mary Kawar.

They talked about various aspects of cooperation between Jordan and the UN refugee agency to meet the needs of displaced Syrians.

Jordan, the premier said, had done all it can to help the Syrian refugees, urging the international community to support the Kingdom's efforts to deliver the necessary services to them.

He noted the heavy burdens placed on the Jordanian economy by the Syrian refugee crisis, particularly on the sectors of education, health and infrastructure.

Grandi commended Jordan's endeavours towards the refugees, stressing the ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom and the UNHCR and the need for further coordination in this regard.
