King orders emergency aid to Gaza, evacuation of critically injured Gazans to Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, in the presence of HRH Crown Prince Hussein, on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the National Policies Council (NPC) on situation in the Palestinian territories after the United States moved its embassy to Jerusalem, and Israeli attacks on unarmed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The King said that the Israeli violations and violence against the Palestinian brethren in the Gaza Strip are absolutely condemned and rejected, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibility of protecting the Palestinians.

His Majesty pledged that Jordan will remain fully supportive of the Palestinians in facing the challenges and hard conditions, and will continue to place all its energies to support their steadfastness on their national soil.

In this context, the King directed the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization to send urgent medical and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to stand by them to overcome the tough conditions there. He also ordered that all measures be taken to transfer critically injured Gazans to receive treatmrnt in the Royal Medical Services hospitals.

Yesterday, King Abdullah ordered raising the capacity of the Jordanian field hospital of the Royal Medical Services in the Gaza Strip, and providing it with all medical supplies and staff to deal with Palestinians injured as a result of the violence and attacks by Israeli forces.

The meeting, which was held at the Husseiniyah Palace, also focused on Jordan's firm stance in rejecting the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem, which, as His Majesty stressed, is a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and Christians around the world.

King Abdullah also reaffirmed Jordan's full backing of the Palestinian brothers in preserving their historical and legal rights in Jerusalem and in their efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He said Arab, Islamic and international efforts should be stepped up to protect the rights of Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims in Jerusalem, which is the key to achieving peace and stability in the region.

The issue of Jerusalem, the King reiterated, must be settled within the framework of a comprehensive solution based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take a firm stance supporting peace and a solution to the Palestinian issue.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Director of General Intelligence, the Advisor to His Majesty the King and Director of his office, the King's Advisor for Tribal Affairs, the Minister of State for Media Affairs, the Interior Minister and the director of Gendarmerie Forces.
