AMMONNEWS - A slight rise in temperatures is expected on Wednesday, but they remain below their annual average. Therefore, partly cloudy conditions will continue with light showers mainly in the northern parts of the Kingdom, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk at times, blowing dust in the southern and eastern areas, the JMD said.

Daytime temperatures forecast for today will reach 23 degrees Celsius in Amman and the southern cities, 21 in the northern governorates dropping down at night in to 14, 12 and 15 respectively. The weather will be hot in the port city of Aqaba with temperatures jumping to 34 degrees and sliding to 22 at night, the JMD added.

The Kingdom will be affected as off Thursday by a Khamasini depression centered over Egypt, so a tangible rise in mercury levels is expected, becoming 4-5 degrees above their seasonal average and creating relatively hot and dusty condition in many regions and causing low visibility.

Clouds at various altitudes with a weak chance for scattered showers are also forecast in the evening mainly in the southern areas, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk with strong gusts, the JMD added.

Temperatures will drop again on Friday, returning back to their normal average and creating moderate and spring weather across the country, while it will be relatively hot in the Jordan valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba with medium and high clouds and light showers in different cities, the JMD added.

Cloudy skies with light rain are expected at night, mainly in the northern and western parts of the Kingdom, the department noted.
