King receives UAE FM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and discussed with him bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region.

During the meeting, held at the al-Husainiah Palace, King Abdullah underscored the "long-standing and deep ties" between the two brotherly countries and voiced keenness to foster prospects of cooperation in various fields.

The meeting, continued over a lunch banquet, touched on the two-way high-level coordination and cooperation on Mideast regional crises, in an effort to realize peace, security and stability in the region and to serve pan-Arab issues.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for UAE's continued support to Jordan to help the Kingdom carry out its developmental ventures.

The King, moreover, underlined the importance of expanding UAE's investments in the Kingdom, noting the competitive privileges Jordan's economy provides for investors in various vital sectors.

Discussions also tackled challenges and current crises in the Middle East and some Arab countries, as well as efforts to reach political solutions to them to bring about peace and security to the region.

On the Palestinian issue, King Abdullah emphasized that the next Arab summit would unify Arab stances supporting the Palestinian people in establishing their sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In turn, UAE's minister commended Jordan's role in supporting Arab and Islamic issues, as well as the Kingdom's endeavors to achieve peace and security in the Middle East.

He voiced his country's commitment on bolstering cooperation with Jordan in various domains to serve their mutual interests.

Sheikh Abdullah also underlined the important strategic role Jordan plays in the region, voicing UAE's eagerness to stand by the Kingdom to overcome its challenges and press ahead with economic and developmental projects.

The meeting was attended by Chief of the Royal Court, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Adviser to the King and Director of His Majesty's Office and the UAE Ambassador in Amman.
