Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on Monday took part in a meeting of the countries of the Saudi-led coalition supporting the legitimacy in Yemen, which was held in Riyadh to announce a humanitarian operations plan in the country.

The plan includes a package of measures and humanitarian contributions, including the provision of about $1.5 billion in aid, expansion of the capacity of Yemeni ports by providing cranes, opening of land and air access points and setting up safe corridors.

Taking part in the meeting were the foreign ministers of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Djibouti as well as representatives from Kuwait, Sudan, Morocco, Malaysia and Pakistan.

Safadi stressed the importance of the humanitarian blueprint to improve the humanitarian situation of the Yemeni people, whose suffering should end through a political solution that ensures the unity of the country and protects its legitimacy on the basis of Security Council Resolution 2216 and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.

In a bilateral meeting with Saudi foreign minister Adel Al Jubeir, Safadi commended Riyadh's efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, reiterating Jordan's stand with the Yemeni "brothers" and its support of all efforts to resolve the crisis and meet the humanitarian needs in the country.

Safadi also stressed Jordan's support for Saudi Arabia's defense of its security, which, he said, is part of Jordan's security, and also condemned Yemen's Houthi rebels for launching rockets on Saudi territory, which he described as "a vicious aggression" that violates international law.

The two ministers also reviewed the latest developments in the region, including moves to contain the repercussions of the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and a political horizon to solve the Palestinian conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, as well as efforts to reach a political solution in Syria.

Safadi and al-Jubeir agreed to continue coordination and consultation.
