Labor minister calls for giving priority to national industrial products

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Labor Minister Ali Ghezawi highlighted the importance of paying more attention to national industries through providing relevant environment for these industries and protecting them through legislation.

During a ceremony to launch "Made in Jordan" campaign adopted by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), the minister stressed the importance of participatory relationship between the public and private sectors, especially the industrial sector which is a "major engine of economic growth" that creates sustainable job opportunities and contributes to reducing unemployment rates.

The minister pointed to the National Programme for Empowerment and Employment launched by the government with a funding of JD100 million to generate jobs for Jordanians across the Kingdom.

Head of "Made in Jordan" Campaign Musa Saket said that the campaign comes as a culmination of the ACI's policy to support national industries and highlighted the advanced level and quality they have reached.

He said national industries directly contribute to quarter of the Gross Domestic Product and support economic sectors as well as the balance of payments with more than $7 billion.

Saket said that exports of the national industries sector have risen from $1 billion in 1998 to $7 billion in 2017 and their products reached 130 countries in the world.
