AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki on Thursday met visiting Dutch Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld and the accompanying delegation.

Talks during the meeting touched on ways to foster bilateral ties, with eye to the defense domains and the security and political circumstances the Middle East.

The premier said the Mideast volatilities drove the Jordanian army to remain vigil for several consecutive years to protect borders, in a bid to counter terrorist gangs.

Jordan, he underlined, believes the war on terrorism shall be waged within a holistic strategy, taking into consideration combating this phenomenon from military, security-driven and ideological angles.

Al-Mulki stressed the importance of tackling the root causes and drives of terrorism and extremism, and underscored the need to find a just solution to the Palestinian cause.

Fostering economic and social development and boosting democracy guarantee the region's stability and block emergence of fresh terrorist movements, he said, and added such an inclusive scheme will tackle the causes of terrorism.

Al-Mulki said Jerusalem is a crucial political issue, which doesn't concern Arabs solely, but Muslims and Christians worldwide, and its future should be left to the final-status negotiations.

The U.S administration's step to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is a precarious decision and contravenes int'l law, the premier noted, and added its diverse ramifications threaten regional security and stability and undermine efforts to re-launch peace talks.

The Dutch official, for her part, voiced her country's appreciation to Jordan's key role in backing maneuvers to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.

Bijleveld also lauded Amman's crucial efforts to address the Syrian refugee crisis, and underlined Netherland's aid aimed to help tackle rigorous repercussions of the Syrian refugee problem and the hosting communities as well.
