Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Egyptian Embassy in Jordan said in a statement on Thursday that whoever committed the crime of assaulting and killing the Egyptian national Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi on Wednesday will be punished according to the law.

It was added that the embassy has been following up all the updates of the Egyptian citizen's case since the beginning, and that they have done everything in their power to support the victim, including moving him from a private hospital to Zarqa city government hospital where he was under constant supervision of doctors.

According to the initial diagnosis, the Egyptian citizen suffered from double skull fractures and internal bleeding that led to his death.

The Jordanian Ministry of Manpower condemned the incident in an official statement on Thursday: “We strongly condemn what whapped to the Egyptian citizen Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi.”

The ministry stressed the strong and respectful relations between Egypt and Jordan. It was added that the incident caused a wave of rage among all the Jordanian sectors inside the country.

The Jordanian officials described the incident as an “individual case” which does not represent any of the Jordanian people. The ministry affirmed that they will carry out all the necessary procedures to move the Egyptian citizen back to his country.

“We affirm that the authorities will follow up the investigations until the offenders receive their just punishment,” the Jordanian Ministry of Manpower’s statement read.

On Wednesday, December 27, it was reported that the Egyptian national Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi was hospitalized as a result of being beaten and dragged by several Jordanians during a fight about money (up to 2,000 JOD). Later, Morsi was announced dead due to his injuries.
